Synopsis
Ken Burns’ documentary interweaves the history of the Gettysburg Address with a chronicle about a special school in the small New England town of Putney, Vermont. Each year, fifty students, boys from the ages of 11 to 17 are asked to memorise Abraham Lincoln’s famous speech: a daunting challenge made even more so by the fact that the boys all have learning difficulties.
