Cost of Cool, The

Synopsis
Teenagers discuss what it takes to be ‘cool’, the pressures of consumerism, and the impact on the environment. The video begins with a look at global population growth and the impact of consumption habits on the earth’s resources. The film considers everyday items from t-shirts to shoes and tracks the effect of their manufacture on the world’s resources. Teenagers are forced to examine their own patterns of buying and consumption, and question whether they actually need much of the stuff that they feel they must acquire to be happy and live well.
