- Alternative title
- 3 Documentaries by Sergei Loznitsa: Blockade, Landscape, Revue
- Synopsis
- Three documentaries by Russian filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa. Includes; BLOCKADE, LANDSCAPE and REVUE. In BLOCKADE, Loznitsa draws on three-and-a-half hours of silent footage acquired from the St. Petersburg Studio of Documentary Films to detail the siege of Leningrad for a film devoid of narration and featuring only the natural sounds of the streets. In LANDSCAPE, Loznitsa records the inhabitants of the Russian village Okulovka while they wait at a bus stop in the middle of winter. In REVUE, the director uses archive propaganda material produced in the Soviet Union during the 1950s and 60s to show juxtaposing images of Socialist realism art with film depicting the harsh realities of human suffering and poverty.
