Year to Remember, A: The 1930s

Synopsis
This three disc DVD set features Pathe footage taken from across the 1930s, giving an insight into the decade leading up to World War II. In a world reeling from the Great Depression, the decade was dominated by record levels of unemployment and economic hardship with newsreels doing their best to maintain morale. Rapid developments in transport featured prominently in Pathe’s newsreels, and the exploits of Amelia Earhart and Malcolm Campbell were regularly reported. The abdication crisis and accession of George VI also dominated and later in the decade the rise of Hitler and the eventual outbreak of war in 1939.
