Synopsis

In this wide-ranging film, Jake Auerbach attempts to discover what motivates and inspires artists: what starts them off and what keeps them going. He speaks to a number of contemporary artists, including Grayson Perry, Tracey Emin, Tom Phillips, Paula Rego, Frank Auerbach and Joe Tilson. The voices of artists from the past 2000 years are provided by actors, including Jim Broadbent, Ian Holm, Lizzy McInnerny and Tim McInnerny.
