Ameer Got His Gun
- Synopsis
- Documentary about Ameer Abu Ria, an eighteen year old Muslim Arab, who volunteers to enlist in the Israeli army, despite - like all Israeli Arabs - being exempt from service. Ameer believes that his induction is the way to equality, and of belonging to the state he lives in. However, in the eyes of Israeli Jews his presence in the army is considered a security risk and Arab citizens consider him a traitor. The film follows Ameers journey to civic and self-definition, as he navigates the thin line between Jewish and Arab societies.
