Synopsis
This documentary tells the story of the Pretoria Pit Disaster of 21 December 1910 in which 344 men and boys died, after an explosion at the Hulton Bank Colliery No. 3 Pit, near Bolton, Lancashire. The film features local experts, Dr David Holding and Erwin Bottomley, the families of those involved, computer graphic reconstructions and pictures of the aftermath. Shot on location at The National Coal Mining Museum, the movie is the first documentary to investigate the second biggest disaster in the history of British coal mining. [53 minutes, MP4 format]
