Jonas Mekas

Synopsis
This six DVD set collects the major works of filmmaker Jonas Mekas. Born in Lithuania in 1922, and forced to flee west by Soviet and Nazi forces, Mekas and his brother Adolfas spent four years in a German displaced persons’ camps before arriving in New York in 1949,where they began making 16mm films. Mekas developed his diary style of filmmaking while simultaneously occupying himself as a film critic, programmer, organiser and distributor.
