Physics Lives
- Synopsis
- Four short films which address the questions: What do physicists actually do? Why do they do it? And what is their work for? In BATHS AND QUARKS Professor David Tong studies a problem which has been plaguing physicists for years: how do solitons hold the universe together? In WRITTEN IN THE SKY Dr. Jim Wild travels to Iceland to uncover the secret behind the mysterious Aurora Borealis. The third film, ION BEAM COP, sees forensic science and analysis expert, Dr. Melanie Bailey describing how she uses ion beams to solve crime. The final film AIR APPARENT shows how Dr. Mark Richards creates a device which visually depicts air pollutants on a pollution map. [33 minutes]
