England - Scotland: A Marriage in Crisis?

Synopsis
The Cheviot Hills and Hadrian’s Wall mark the historical frontier between England and Scotland. Today the divide is marked by much more. The Scottish spirit of independence, which has endured since the country was united with the English crown in 1707, is today expressed by way of institutions through the transfers of legislative powers to the Scottish parliament. The presence of rich oil deposits in the North Sea stir up Scottish nationalists’ appetite. This programme shows us how the relationship between the two countries is changing through economy, education and politics.
