- Synopsis
- Beijing-based American journalist Alison Klayman directs this feature-length documentary about the life and work of Chinese contemporary artist and political activist Ai Weiwei. The film begins in 2009 as Ai Weiwei starts to lay the groundwork for the art installation that is to become Sunflower Seeds at the Tate Modern gallery in London and becomes increasingly involved in a political campaign to challenge the Chinese government over its response to the 2008 Sichuan earthquake.
