Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
- Synopsis
- Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is an alliterative poem which was written in the late fourteenth century by an anonymous poet. Simon Armitage presents this programme which goes on the trail of the Gawain poet, visiting the landscape described in the poem in the north west Midlands and Cheshire, as he delves into the elements - which combine, romance, the supernatural, realism and morality - to explain why a story about a a knight beheading a green giant is as relevant today as when it was written.
