Committing Poetry in Time of War
- Synopsis
- This documentary tells the story of teacher Bill Nevins who was fired from his job as a high school teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when he encouraged his students to write poetry protesting against the war in Iraq. Days later a protest against the decision was brutally broken up by police. Out of this incident arose the Poetic Justice Movement, a diverse community of artists, poets, and musicians devoted to justice, free speech, and hope.
