Synopsis
This film tells the story of the Russian composer’s life covering his training during the 1917 revolution, the criticism he faced during the 1930s when he was dubbed a formalist by the authorities, and how he came back into favour with his Fifth Symphony. Features interviews with the composer and his son and many performances of his music are shown.
