Using footage taking from four main sources at the British Film Institute - the Mitchell and Kenyon collection; Topical Budget newsreels; public information films from the COI collection and travelogues from the British Transport Film Unit - Penny Woolcock’s documentary creates a portrait of the United Kingdom, showing the British coast as a place of leisure, work, and wild nature. In the place of commentary, the film is accompanied by the music of British Sea Power.
