Synopsis
Use of language to communicate complex ideas is the most obvious way to demonstrate cognition and understanding. Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman discusses his research in cognitive psychology, and linguist Noam Chomsky, along with others, explains the principles of language acquisition. Susan Curtiss relates the revealing story of ‘Genie’, a young girl who did not acquire language due to the neglect and abuse of her parents and investigates how this developmental experience how affected her ability to understand and process thoughts?
