Nonviolence for a Change
- Synopsis
- This 30 minute film aims to stimulate and discussion on the subject of non-violent protest, and non-violent direct action in particular. The film’s makers promote non-violent protest as a way of actively challenging injustice and working positively to change things, offering a third way between passively accepting the status quo and trying to impose change through use of force. This film sees members of the Quaker movement them in training and putting their training into action. The DVD is a revision of a 2001 video, updated with new material and comparing the issues now with 10 years ago. It features the same activists as before, asking them what has changed. There are contributions from Green MP, Caroline Lucas, Tony Benn and Director of Liberty, Shami Chakrabarti and music from folk band Seize the Day.
