Sutton Hoo Helmet, The
- Synopsis
- Documentary about the Sutton Hoo helmet and the other treasures which were found when the Anglo-Saxon ship burial was excavated near Woodbridge in Suffolk on the eve of World War II. The film includes archive footage filmed in 1939 at the time of the first excavation, and looks at the helmet in detail and also the likely identity of the man who wore it, as well as touching on the nature of the society in which he lived, in which pagan beliefs were being contested by the rise of Christianity. The DVD includes a gallery of extra images of some of the goods found in the grave.
