Patience (After Sebald)

Synopsis
Film essay based on the work and life of German writer W.G. Sebald, with particular reference to his book The Rings of Saturn, a melancholy and atmospheric account of a walking tour of Suffolk, in which Sebald blends fiction, memoir, history and photography to create a powerful meditation on the oppressive weight of history and the fragile connections between the living and the dead, prompted by his journey through the bleak East Anglian landscape. The film traces Sebald’s path down the Suffolk coast and features contributions from writers Andrew Motion, Iain Sinclair and Marina Warner.
