Manuscripts of Timbuktu, The

Synopsis
A film on how the legendary Timbuktu became one of the world’s leading scholarly and trading centres during the 12 - 15th centuries. It dispels the myth that Africa had no science or written culture before the arrival of the Europeans. The recent capture of the ancient city of Timbuktu by rebels has led UNESCO to issue a warning urging protection of the historic sites and documents.
