Wheat Rust

Synopsis
Every year millions of acres of wheatland on the North American continent become a battlefield, with man competing for one of his chief sources of food against a microscopic organism. Stem rust of wheat, an air-borne scourge, annually lays waste to hundreds of acres. This film documents what plant pathologists have discovered about the wheat rust fungus and their attempts to produce rust-resistant varieties of wheat to withstand the hybridizing tendencies of the parasite.
