Synopsis
A 13-part series of 50-minute programmes focussing on the history of forensic science, from its early introduction to the latest cutting-edge techniques. Each episode looks at a specific method and the famous and seemingly unsolvable crimes it has helped to crack.But it also asks whether these techniques are as infallible as they first seem, how the innocent can sometimes be found guilty, and how criminals sometimes walk away unpunished. Individual programmes cover explosives and fire, odontology, serology and blood spatter analysis, fingerprinting, psychological profiling, identification of remains, ballistics, trace evidence, questioned documents, profile of death, computer crime, and toxicology.
