Synopsis

A film showing a series of elaborate installations created by Anselm Kiefer at La Ribaute, a derelict site of former industrial buildings in southwest France. Since 2000 he has dug a network of underground tunnels to house paintings and installations he has created using lead, concrete, ash, acid, earth, glass and gold. Visual set pieces are used alongside observational footage to capture both the dramatic resonance of Kiefer’s art and the intimate process of creation.
