Synopsis
Douglas Sirk’s adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s drama The Shooting Party. Olga, the young and beautiful wife of a middle-aged Russian civil servant, becomes the object of the affections of her husband’s employer, a lecherous count She, in turn, is enamoured of a provincial judge. At first, all flirtations are playful and harmless, but the judge takes Olga so seriously that he ends up killing her in a jealous rage.
