- Synopsis
- Pop music series. This episode contains the following 6 minute sketch. "A scene of a medieval wedding is about to take place, with confrontation by Iago, who walks dragging along Lily Tomlin who is clutching his ankles after having been spurned. Moms Mabley plays the mother of Othello as a stereotypical U.S. southern black woman who somehow has got mixed up in this opera. "You aint got no bizniss wearing that hat. You know we from Georgia." Opera continues to climactic scene when Iago poisons food and everyone at the wedding dies very melodramatically. In his death throes Otello goes into an operatic rendition of "Sugar Sugar" [the 1969 number 1 hit by The Archies]as he crawls across to his bride. All the rest of the victims join in. Ends with Lily Tomlin shoving the plate of poison dessert in the face of the evil Iago who licks some of it and then dies too. [Synopsis taken from the WPA online entry].
