University of Cambridge Personal Histories Project: David Attenborough

Synopsis
Personal Histories is an on-going, educational, oral history project based in the Department of Archaeology, Cambridge University, in which senior scientists are invited to share their memories, life stories and past experiences in order to shed light on the development of archaeology and the origins of current research agenda. This is a video recording of a talk given by David Attenborough in 2010 which he looks back on his time at the BBC, from joining the production team of the second ever programme in the Animal! Vegetable! Mineral! series, to Buried Treasure, Chronicle and the Silbury Hill excavation, and shares memories of Glyn Daniel, Mortimer Wheeler and the director Paul Johnstone, who was responsible for many of these early archaeology programmes.

NB The online version only contains short extracts from the talk but a written transcript is available from the website.
