Aa, The: Rescue or Wrong Turn

Alternative title
Privatisation: Rescue or Wrong Turn
Synopsis
The AA - Britain’s so-called Fourth Emergency Service - is in turmoil after it was taken over by the new phenomenon in the City, the private equity company. The workforce has been cut back drastically, patrol services reduced and massive loans taken out on the company. But profits are up and the private equity bosses have pocketed millions. Max Flint investigates these new super-successful business execs and asks whether this is just asset-stripping or the best way to re-vitalise a famous old company.
