Synopsis
Video recording of lecture given at the Royal Society of Medicine on 17 May 2010 by Professor Sir Michael Rawlins, Chairman of the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence, in which he discusses the methods and difficulties of balancing cost and effectiveness in the NHS.

Sir Michael Rawlins has been Chairman of the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) since its formation in 1999. He is also an Honorary Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, and Emeritus Professor at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He is introduced by Professor Robin Williamson, President of the RSM. (32 minutes)
