From Einstein to Quantum Information

Synopsis
A video recording of Anton Anton Zeilinger’s Fujitsu lecture. Albert Einstein criticised quantum mechanics for various reasons, most notably randomness, for entanglement, and for its denial of classical reality. Interestingly just the points that worried Einstein have led to new experiments, and to ideas of a new information technology. Anton Zeilinger discusses recent experiments on quantum interference of macromolecules including biomolecules, on quantum teleportation, on multi-photon entanglement based quantum computation, and on the possibilities of world wide quantum communication.

An interview with Anton Zeilinger filmed at the same time, covering topics like entanglement, Bertlmann’s socks, quantum teleportation, and why one should study physics, is available at http://mediaplayer.group.cam.ac.uk/component/option,com_mediadb/task,view/idstr,CU-CMS_CQC-Anton_Zeilinger_Interview/Itemid,31 .
