Waste Management

Synopsis
How much do you think about what you throw away? A waste management cycle is essential for a sustainable future. This album considers the policy and legislation that is driving waste management processes across the EU. By modelling the overall environmental impacts of solid waste disposal methods, the UK government has now created a hierarchy of waste and local management strategies. The 12 video tracks in this album offer an in depth look at each of these processes, concentrating on waste collection, recycling, composting, energy recovery and landfill. This material forms part of T308 Environmental Monitoring, Modelling and Control. Individual tracks are: WASTE MINIMISATION (3 min); WASTE RE-USE AND RECOVERY(5 min); WASTE INCINERATION (6 mins); THE SCIENCE OF LANDFILL (2 mins); LANDFILL SITE SELECTION AND PLANNING (2 mins); LANDFILL CONSTRUCTION (3 mins); LANDFILL OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE (5 mins); LANDFILL CLOSURE AND AFTERCARE (3 min); LANDFILL - THE FUTURE (3 min); WASTE COLLECTION (7 mins); ENERGY FROM WASTE (12 mins); COMPOSTING 6 mins).
