Iraq in Fragments

Synopsis
This incredibly photographed, well-balanced documentary looks at life in war-torn Iraq through the eyes of Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds and is the sum of the two years American director James Longley struggled to encapsulate a war that is being fought on three fronts. The film is in three parts: a fatherless 11-year-old is apprenticed to the domineering owner of a Baghdad garage; Sadr followers in two Shiite cities rally for regional elections while enforcing Islamic law at the point of a gun; a family of Kurdish farmers welcomes the US presence, which has allowed them a measure of freedom previously denied.
