President’s Guide to Science, The

Synopsis
The decisions the president of the United States makes can shape the future of humanity for decades to come - decisions often based on science and technology. Yet, it is also potentially the greatest source of weakness. The president has to have a grasp of everything from global warming to the ethical dilemmas of new bio-technologies, often with little more science education than a high school diploma. In this programme the world’s leading scientists, politicians and commentators reveal the questions the president has to face, explaining how to plot the careful path needed to both harness the miraculous and avoid the catastrophic.
