Everest: Doctors in the Death Zone

Synopsis
Imagine being short of oxygen, fighting for breath, your lungs filling with fluid, brain swelling, struggling to stay alive. This is what it feels like to a patient in intensive care as they struggle to get oxygen around their bodies. This is also how a mountaineer battling towards the summit of Everest feels. At 8,848 metres, Everest lies in the death zone - the area that’'s so high up, there is barely enough oxygen to stay alive. As they attempt to reach the summit, using themselves as guinea pigs and the mountain as their laboratory, a British team of doctors literally risk their lives to help save the lives of their patients
