Environmental Good Practice - Training Resource (C678tp)

Synopsis
The construction industry is coming under increasing pressure to ensure its activities have a minimal affect on the environment. Pressure is being applied not only by legislators, environmental watchdogs, other businesses and residents, but also by clients keen to enhance or improve their environmental performance. The incentives for good environmental practice are financial as well as environmental. These include avoiding substantial penalties for causing environmental damage whether through pollution of watercourses, generating excessive noise or dust, cutting down protected trees or disturbing wildlife.

This training resource has been designed and produced by CIRIA and Bureau Veritas HS&E Ltd to help all concerned with construction activities to follow environmental good practice. The comprehensive programme of resources provided supports training sessions ranging from 90 minutes to a full day. Training sessions will generally be eligible for registration as Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

This resource is for those organising or running a training session in environmental good practice. Complementing the resources are information and advice to trainers to help them formulate training sessions that are relevant, focused and targeted at the needs of particular groups of delegates. These may comprise designers, senior management, site managers and site personnel. Groups may be assembled within one organisation or from several. Although the material is designed to be used in a group environment, individuals working on their own may also benefit.
