Lévi-Strauss at Unesco’s 60th Anniversary
- Synopsis
- A video recording of a speech given by Claude Lévi-Strauss on 16 November 2005 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of UNESCO’s foundation, streamed as part of the online version of the UNESCO Courier No. 5, 2008. "With the passage of time, the number of those who were directly or indirectly associated with UNESCO during its first 10 to 15 years is shrinking. It happens that I was one of them, and on such diverse occasions that I sometimes have difficulty remembering them."
The same issue of the Courier streams an audio version of him reading in French from "Race and Culture" at UNESCO in 1971. It also contains a selection of articles written by him and published in the magazine since the early 1950s, which he later developed in the works that made him famous, unpublished documents, and some of his photographs and sketches from the 1930s. - Language
