Conscience of the King, The

Synopsis
Radio play written and produced by Terence Tiller. Listed as a ‘Study of the Fool in King Lear’, the programme begins with a ‘fade up’ on an excited group of radio actors in a BBC studio about to perform a radio recording of King Lear. The argument on how best to play Lear’s fool (is he a fool or a clown) is interrupted by the appearance of Shakespeare (Ian Catford), who is then quizzed on the importance of the Fool and folly in the play.
