Bygones: The Horsemen

Synopsis
A BYGONES special produced by Anglia Television in 1975, recalling the age before the tractor when farm work revolved around the horses. Oral historian George Ewart recognised that as this generation of horsemen retired they took a lifetime’s practical experience with them. This video is a visual account of his research. Retired farm workers in their 80s and 90s speak about the regular course of their working day and what it was like to work with horses.
