Police and the Mentally Ill (2 Vols)

Synopsis
Two collections of short industrial films spanning four decades.
Vol 1. POLICE AND THE MENTALLY ILL is an educational film for police officers offering advice if they are confronted by a mentally ill criminal. How to deal with a woman who thinks her heart is missing and her nose is growing; how to stop a mad bomber before he strikes; how to handle crazy, mixed up drug fuelLed teenagers. The disc also features SYMPTOMS IN SCHIZOPHRENIA an industrial film made in 1935 detailing the behaviours of institutionalized schizophrenics and a mind-blowing short, EXPERIMENTS IN THE REVIVAL OF ORGANISM, demonstrating how to keep a severed dog’s head alive!

Vol 2. A compilation of films focusing on police, crime, criminals and juvenile delinquents. The first film in the collection, BOOKED FOR SAFEKEEPING, is a training film made for the New Orleans police force that teaches them how to handle a mentally ill person in a time of danger. Made in 1960, this film is a great time capsule of the era. Other short films on this disc include: Don’t Talk to Strangers; Police Dogs in Action; Profile in Blue; Safety Patrol; Saint Paul police Detectives (amazing stop action animation short); This is Your Police Department; Boy in Court; The Stranger; What About Juvenile Delinquency?; Why Vandalism?;
