Synopsis

British newsfilm. "The Prince of Wales opens Memorial Theatre before representatives of 40 nations at Stratford". The Prince begins his speech ‘Shakespeare was above all things an Englishman, he loved his country with a great and passionate love’. He continues to equate Shakespeare with notions of ‘Englishness’ and cultural heritage and concludes that the Memorial Theatre is a ‘tribute of the whole civilised world to a great world figure’.
