Synopsis: Feature film. King Shahdov (Chaplin) is a deposed monarch exiled in New York without money. He becomes involved with Ann Kay (Addams) who hosts a television show, and soon becomes a celebrity. Befriending a small boy whose parents are imprisoned for Communist activity, he is suspected of being a communist himself and eventually returns to Europe. As part of ‘Ann Kay’s Real-Life Surpise Party’, a reality tv show filmed secretly during a society dinner party, Chaplin recites the ‘to be or not to be’ speech from Hamlet.
