Synopsis
The four episodes of this television series depict life in ancient Egypt, using dramatisations, state of the art filmmaking and computer images. Based on evidence of real events, "The Battle of Megiddo" depicts the birth of the Empire (1458 BC), "The Tomb Robber’s Tale" - 1111 BC, dramatises a scandalous theft from the 20th Dynasty. In "Murder in the Temple" - 632 BC four priests plot a murder and a thirty year feud brings down a powerful Dynasty. In the final episode "The Twins’ Tale" - set in Egypt 164 BC, twin girls are plucked from poverty and prostitution to become virgin priestesses of the Apis Bull cult, but their mother fights to keep them at home.
