My Shakespeare

Synopsis
A programme of words and music conceived and written by David William. Four actors alternate in their portrayal of several historical figures including George Bernard Shaw, Voltaire, Virginia Woolf, Berlioz, Dickens and a reviewer from The Independent all of whom briefly praise, criticise, or mock Shakespeare and his work. Matters addressed range from adaptations of King Lear with a happy ending to the founding of the Stratford Festival. The history of Shakespeare’s reputation is presented as a microcosm of the cultural history of four centuries. Accompanied by Ann Monoyios, soprano, and Bruce Ubukata, piano and harpsichord.
