Vitelloni, I

Synopsis
The winner of the prestigious Silver Lion Award at the 1953 Venice Film Festival, Federico Fellini’s I VITELLONI is a brilliant and sharp observation of Italian social life in the 1950’s. The title, literally translated as ‘the young calves’, refers to a group of five young men who have grown up together in a small provincial town on the Adriatic. The film charts their respective rites of passage and how discontentment and restlessness lead them into a variety of activities, not all of them admirable.
