Romeo and Juliet: The Words of Love
- Synopsis
- Educational series. One in a twelve-part series of films made by the Ontario Educational Communications Authority (now TV Ontario). The aim was to relate ‘Shakespeare’s timeless ideas and understanding of human motivations to contemporary society’. The press information from NBC Educational Enterprises records that the film ‘stresses the social barriers which love has to overcome and the decision made by the lovers who count the world well lost when they reject social mores and give themslves to their love’. A balladeer singing love songs accompanies these scenes. A discussion on contemporary social barriers to love concludes the film.
