Synopsis

Documentary examining the theory that everyone in the world is related to one woman who lived in east Africa 140,000 years ago. It also reconsiders the migration of humans from Africa to the rest of the world, suggesting that only one route was taken, and uses recent genetic and anthropological research to discuss why, if this theory is true, why our appearances differ so much. Includes contributions from Dr. Nina Jablonsk (California Academy of Sciences) and Dr. Stephen Oppenheimer (Oxford University). With computer-generated imagery, morphing, animation and scenario reconstruction. Narrated by Danny Glover. Written and directed by Andrew Piddington.
