Virgin Queen, The

Synopsis: A television dramatisation of the long and eventful life of Queen Elizabeth. It explores the full sweep of her life: from her imprisonment as a teenage princess at the hands of her half sister Queen Mary to young queen, discovering the harsh realities of ruling a country divided by faith and under threat from abroad, into her years of triumph over the Spanish Armada and finally her old age and her last, enigmatic relationship with her young protégé, the Earl of Essex. The series details all the key events of the Queen’s reign and her personal struggle to balance her personal feelings with the rigors of the monarchy.
