Peter Hall

Synopsis
Television documentary. Before 1960 the Royal Shakespeare Company staged a limited season of plays at Stratford. In 1963, with two permanent theatres, one in London’s West End, a full-time company of ca. 500 presented plays to over 750,000 people. The programme argues that this transformation of the company into the largest and most active dramatic group in Western Europe began in 1960 with the appointment of Peter Hall as Director.
