Midsummer Night’s Dream, A

Synopsis
A recording of the play performed at the Delacorte Theater in New York City’s Central Park as part of the New York Shakespeare Festival. The production employed regional accents and an eclectic mix of costumes. Reviewers and critics speak of aggressive and unsubtle acting and verse speaking, a production lacking any of the darker elements to be found in the play. The play was directed for stage by James Lapine and for television by Emile Ardolino.
