Sections

Title
Equilibrium - the Concepts
Synopsis
Covers the basic concepts of chemical equilibrium and the equilibrium law. Examples and analogies are used throughouit to represent the concept of equilibrium. The programme considers what an equilibrium constant indicates about a reaction - in terms of the relative quantities of reactants and products present at equilibrium.
Duration
22 mins

Title
Equilibrium - Applying the Concepts
Synopsis
Presents an overview of the basic concepts of chemical equilibrium: reversible reactions, Le Chatelier’s principle, the equilibrium law and calculating K. It also looks at how conditions in a reaction, other than temperature, can be changed and the consequences of a change in conditions. Examines how K changes when increasing and decreasing the temperature of exothermic reactions and then explores the industrial manufacture of sulphuric acid and how the concepts of equilibrium apply.
Duration
20 mins
