Sir James Baddiley is the discoverer of teichoic acids, polymers which represent a major component of cells, i.e. of Gram-positive bacteria. He discusses his family life and education, and his research and academic life at Pembroke College Cambridge, the Wenner-Gren Institute of Experimental Biology in Stockholm, the Lister Institute (London), and the University of Newcastle upon Tyne where he spent thirty years. 154 minutes.
